The Whale Watching Tour
The Whale Watching Tour is a unique series of concerts held by the Icelandic record company Bedroom Community founded in 2006 by the producer and musician Valgeir Sigurðsson, better known as a regular collaboration partner of the one and only Björk. The Whae Watching Tour brings together some of Bedroom Company artists, all of them are close friends of Valgeir Sigurðsson: Nico Muhly, Ben Frost and Sam Amidon. Bedroom Community is a tightly-knit family; all of its members are good mates and share their musical ideas with each other. The four leading artists appearing in concert perform each other's music. They are all very different: Nico Muhly is a contemporary classical composer, Valgeir Sigurðsson writes electro-acoustic pieces. While Ben Frost performs in the genre of ambient noise, Sam Amidon specialises in apocalyptic folk songs. The one thing they all have in common is their willingness to embrace experiments; they are all participants of a live musical process which will also be witnessed by anyone who will attend the concert.
