Jil Sander, Museum Angewandte Kunst, November 4 – May 6, 2018

The Jil Sander exhibition, for its part, which is on show at the Museum Angewandte Kunst from November 4 until May 6, is the first ever devoted to one of the best-known names in German fashion. An advocate of minimalism, Sander’s first declared mission in fashion was to focus on design that emphasises the person – in other words, clothing should serve as a frame within which a person’s individuality can blossom. As she said in a rare interview in 2010 with The New York Times: ‘Initially, it was the unpractical in fashion that brought me to design my own line. I felt that it was much more attractive to cut clothes with respect for the living, three-dimensional body rather than to cover the body with decorative ideas.’
