21 Russia, PinchukArtCentre, until 1 March, 2009

21 Russia is an exhibition of contemporary Russian art, covering the past eight years. The most intriguing part is that the world-famous names, like Vladimir Dubosarski, Alexander Vinogradov, Pavel Peperstein, Aleksey Kalima and others are placed side by side with young, still unfamiliar talents, the same way as approved pieces of contemporary art next to new projects, installations and paintings. The exhibition includes not only artists from Moscow, but also authors from St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Samara and Nizhniy Novgorod.
The curator of the exhibition, Alexander Solovyov, strives to show the contemporary Russian art as arising from a tight twine of events and collisions, involving different generations, directions and manners of expression.
