The Revolution Continues: New Art from China

On 9 October, after an interval of several years, the private gallery of the most famous of British art collectors Charles Saatchi is resuming its work in public space. The collection is now housed at the former Duke of York HQ building in Chelsea. (The gallery has been virtually accessible online, however; its website is definitely one of the most exhaustive sources of information on contemporary art available.)
The opening show - which media like to describe as a „fantastic start" - is dedicated to Chinese contemporary art and comprises paintings, sculptures and installations by 30 of this country's leading artists; the exhibition is said to demonstrate the dynamics of the Chinese art environment. The thing is, choosing China, the protagonist of the show, as the first inhabitant of Saatchi's new exhibition space seems quite logical if we consider the energy and single-mindedness with which dealers and curators have recently set to increasing the value of Chinese contemporary art, flooding with it European exhibition halls and prestigious art forums like Art Basel.
Admission to all gallery rooms is free.
