Armenians strongly believe that no industrially manufactured products available at stores can ever match authentic, homemade food. It has a symbolic meaning as well, because any food tastes so much better when it is prepared with love and care. If you are not invited to an Armenian home, the next best choice for a hearty Armenian meal is Our Village. It features a somewhat kitschy décor, typical of such eateries, yet the food is excellent and the service - just like at home! There is nothing over the top about it - the table is set with simple earthenware dishes, a little bit chipped on the rim, and everything is modest and authentic. The diners are mostly tourists, although Our Village is a favorite spot for family celebrations as well and a nice chance of escaping the rut of cooking at home. Live music is played in the evenings, and you will hear the legendary Armenian musical instrument duduk.
