Viroth's Hotel

This is one of the newcomers on the Siem Reap hotel scene and shares its owners with Viroth's, one of the best restaurants in the city (located on the same street). The hotel offers only seven rooms with a laconic minimalist decor dominated by white colour; individuality and a certain emphasis are added by the well thought out placement of design objects - original works by Cambodian artists. Perhaps the feel of contemporary Siem Reap may seem a little too contemporary at times. Breakfast is served at the rooftop bar; there is also a small salt water pool. The proximity of the dusty city street behind the wall may seem slightly off-putting to those otherwise keen to enjoy some sunbathing in the poolside deck chairs. However, these are just details. It is definitely very pleasant to stay at Viroth's and nice to come back at night to enjoy its aesthetics of understated laconism when you are feeling slightly jaded after a day jam-packed with impressions of the magnificent temples and the city life. Besides, where else will you find such a striking combination of excellent design and ambience for the wallet-friendly price of 60 dollars a night?
