New Majestic Hotel

The New Majestic Hotel currently belongs among the most talked-about hotels in Singapore. It shares its owner with the 1929 Hotel, and, although there is no shortage of extravagant chairs - from old theatre and dentist's chairs to gems of contemporary design - the concept has only progressed in its outlandishness, compared to that of its sibling hotel. The New Majestic is more of an art gallery than a classical hotel. The lobby is all glass and white floor. You look up, and what you see is an ostensibly unfinished ceiling - actually, a part of the building's history, revealed during the renovation work and preserved as an element of the décor. There are three glass portholes in the floor of the swimming pool - directly above the dining hall of the hotel restaurant. While swimming, you can enjoy a view of the contents of the diner's plates, and the other way round... The hotel also boasts five theme rooms, designed by stars of the city's creative scene, from a filmmaker to a fashion designer.
