Grand Hotel Francais is perfect logging if you wish to savor an entirely different perspective of Paris, away from traditional tourist trails and well-known city symbols. Located in the 11th arrondissement, it is just ten minutes walking distance from the Bastille Square. A nearby metro station gives an easy commute to any other part of Paris, if you wish to explore some more. Yet the neighborhood of Grand Hotel Francais is definitely worth a closer look as well. It boasts the famous among foodies Paul Bert Street and Le Bistrot Paul Bert, sited there, that has become a well-recognized institution of classic French cuisine. Also Argentinean restaurant Unico, set up in a former butcher's shop from the 70ies, and Le Chardenoux - one of the best and most charming bistros of Paris, supervised by the young celebrity chef Cyril Lignac. Worth visiting address is a small restaurant Les Galopins, gathering locals, who are fond of its superb roasted leg of lamb. A walking distance away is a charming rue d'Algire market, Le Marais neighborhood and the rapidly transforming 20th arrondissement of Paris.
Grand Hotel Francais, with a total of 40 rooms, is housed in a historic 18th century building. Typically to Paris (and a 3-star hotel), rooms are not big, yet freshly renovated, and some of them feature small balconies, adding authentic charm and elegance of Paris. Wireless internet and delicious croissants for breakfast. Opposite the hotel is a very good grocery store offering wide choice of oriental spices. The owner of the hotel - you can meet him almost every day in the lobby - will be delighted to advise you all the best spots of the neighborhood and the whole city, especially, asked about gastronomy, which is his passion.
