Étienne Marcel

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

Another pet project by the Costes brothers. The interior is a peculiar cross of Kubrick's Space Odyssey and early Star Wars. Plastic chairs à la 1970s seem at first cold and incomprehensible but the seats are cushioned, and a moment later you are surprised to find that sitting on them is not that uncomfortable after all... Rubberised flooring with a calligraphically decorated carpet. A plastic lamp with a shade that looks like the twists of a little lamb's bowels and seats at the base just like in the waiting room of a metro station. Each of the three rooms at the Étienne Marcel is a bit different. The interior was designed by Pierre Huyghe and Philippe Parreno and M&M, the creative team of the French Vogue. As customary in all trendy (and Costes-owned) places, the service is somewhat sloppy.

EUR 30-50 per person on average.
