Pasternak

The restaurant bearing the name of the famous Nobel Prize-winning Russian poet and writer Boris Pasternak is located in the Prenzlauer Berg locality. While the place itself has no grand airs about it, locals praise Pasternak as the best Russian restaurant in Berlin. This could indeed be the case - at least it would be difficult to call the food anything but a true, hearty, excellent example of Russian cuisine. The cooking is surpassed only by the atmosphere, which is incredibly welcoming and charming. There is a feel of early 20th-century St Petersburg here. White tablecloths, black and white photographs of Boris Pasternak on the walls, the presence of the local Russian community alongside the occasional tourist and German restaurant-goer. Everybody is eating, chatting, socializing. In the summer there is also an outdoor terrace. Very friendly prices.
The same proprietors own two more dining spots in town - Café Gorky Park (25 Weinbergsweg) and Café-Bar Datscha (1 Gabriel-Max-Str.)
