Founded in 1881, the Poldi Pezzoli Museum is one of the most comprehensive private art museums in the world. The building itself is an outstanding example of a late 19th-century aristocratic residence. Both its exterior and interior are very well preserved.
The museum houses a noteworthy collection of sculptures and paintings by such masters as Boticelli, Raphael, Mantegna, Piero della Francesca and others, as well as clocks and sundials, jewellery and furniture, glassware and porcelain, lace and embroidery, tapestries and carpets, arms and armours, etc.
