WARSAW UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

The library building, constructed in 1999, is an interesting example of ultra-modern architecture. The two main volumes of the edifice are connected by a glazed passageway; the entrance is shaped to resemble a large open book. The main attraction of the library, however, is its roof garden, which covers an area of more than a hectare and is one of the largest and most lavish roof gardens in Europe. The library building also houses the Polish Poster Gallery and its exhibit of some original pieces of the remarkable Polish post-war poster art, with copies available for purchase.
