Restoran (Russian Cuisine)

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

Andrey Dmitriev's designed décor and an authentic Russian cuisine. The restaurant Restoran (Ресторанъ) belongs to Elba Group and is a perfect choice for tasting traditional buckwheat or other porridge, cooked in a genuine, cast iron pot in a warm and cozy atmosphere. Menu features pickled cabbage, cucumbers and aubergines and a selection of Russian "Nastoika" liqueurs with variety of flavors - horseradish, garlic, cranberries and others. It offers a contemporary approach to classic Russian cuisine. Condé Nast Traveler has named it among the world's 100 best restaurants.
Its décor too keeps up with its authentic cooking - light and spacious room with vaulted ceilings features somewhat battered, grayish-beige walls, plain, wooden tables, simple crockery and unbleached linen serviettes and tablecloths. Everything seems rather well-worn, including wooden floors and rough plastering, a fireplace and an old stove with traditional samovars. Huge, antique mirrors and empty picture frames decorate its otherwise unpretentious walls. Only modern lighting in the form of numerous little lamps reminds us of nowadays.
