La Paradeta

La Paradeta chain is a great choice if you crave 100% fresh seafood for friendly prices. In fact, it's absolutely unique dining experience! One of its restaurants is located next to the old Mercat del Born market, quite off the beaten tourist track. Hardly any foreigners can be spotted there, except those who know the city like the back of their hand.
Forget about waiters and elaborate décor - there is no such thing! Just a huge counter brimming with all sorts of fresh sea creatures - fish, lobsters, crabs, calamari, octopus, mussels and much more. You have to queue up (it's almost inevitable there) and point which delicious bits and pieces you would like to have. As for cooking, there are two options - fried in oil or grilled. When the order is taken, weighed and handed to a cook, you get a ticket with a number, as in a bank. Take a seat then and wait for a while - soon your number will be called out, which means the meal is ready! A fantastic, lively atmosphere fills the room swarming with foodies. It feels like a seaside fishermen restaurant offering frugal and delicious meals. Aside from fresh seafood, fish soups and salads, La Paradeta surprises with excellent selection of wines for good prices.
Meal for one person costs around 10 Euros; together with wine - 18 Euros
