Tamarind, Phnom Penh

Author: Gunita Kakteniece

Three floors of the restaurant feature appetizing Mediterranean and French cuisine, comfy wicker chairs along the street and fantastic fresh fruit cocktails. Icy watermelon juice on a hot day in the city feels perfect. Yet, the juiciest spot definitely is Tamarind's rooftop! Just follow steep steps, leading up - and you will find few small tables and a cozy Japanese style corner with colorful cushions for more private moments. It is not a good idea to scorch in the midday heat there, but when the sun sets, Tamarind rooftop is a superb place to while away some late night hours. Although favored mostly by foreign tourists Tamarind does not feature typically Cambodian traits. Yet its offering is a pleasant ambience for a friendly price and a good selection of wines, too.
