A small art gallery Experimenta (www.experimenta.org), hidden in a pathway behind shops that sell saris and other apparels, is highly regard in the context of contemporary art of India. Strange as it may seem, many very good art galleries in India are set in apartments or back rooms of retail premises, concealed from casual glances.
Also Akar Prakar (www.akarprakar.com) gallery is situated in a private bungalow, surrounded by a garden, and presents mostly sculptural works and installations.
Birla Academy of Art & Culture (www.birlaart.com) features a permanent collection of artwork of old masters side by side with noteworthy collections local and international young artists.
