Levant is the historical designation of the region that borders the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea, encompassing present-day Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories. Over the centuries, under the influence of various cultures, a common Levantine cuisine arose, incorporating the traditional mezzes, hummus, tabbouleh, fattoush and other dishes for which this region is known. Naturally, there are variations of these foods in each country.

The Levant is one of the best "white tablecloth" restaurants in Amman to serve Levantine food. Unlike other eating establishments that strictly observe classical traditions, the dishes at Levant have a contemporary touch, which is why one can say that the menu in this restaurant offers modern Levantine cuisine. The Levant is extremely popular among the locals, who go there not simply to dine out, but dress up elegantly to add an extra festive air to their meal. The service is great and the waterpipe is quite nice. The attentive waiter will make sure that its embers stay hot while you enjoy a pleasant after-meal smoke.
