Only a wood-carved door marks this place - a small, 4-room b&b has no signboard whatsoever. Just ring the bell, and probably the host himself will answer the door. Under his jacked, adorned with national ornaments, flashes a black t-shirt with golden letters CCCP and voice seems somewhat hoarse from ever-present dust, perhaps. Akhbar House, sited in the 19th century building, is located in the old Jewish Quarter, and blankets and carpets cover its unpainted walls. The owner boasts a unique collection of ancient Uzbek national costumes, unrivalled in the whole neighborhood. Stepping over Akhbar House threshold, feels like entering Aladin's cave, and you get in a lovely courtyard, where they serve breakfast and sometimes dinner, too. Strolling along the narrow, crooked streets, it's impossible to imagine that such a magic oasis hides behind this humble wooden door.
