Tadioto, Hanoi

Author: Anothertravelguide.com

Definitely one of the most colorful, freshly opened cafes in Hanoi, owned by the Vietnamese journalist, writer, translator and artist Nguyen Qui Duc. He somewhat resembles Yamamoto at first glance, while the bar itself stirs up some associations with Tadao Ando. Duc has designed the décor of this place that has become an important scene of Hanoi's social life, housing exhibitions of local artists and concerts, often extending deep into night. Born in Dalat, Nguyen Qui Duc left Vietnam for the USA in 1975, returning to Hanoi only in 2006, causing headaches to local authorities by still being too much of a freethinker for them. Nguyen Qui Duc has recently opened an artists' guesthouse in the North of the country, envisioned as a meeting place for international artists and serving as a link between the East and the West.
