The Museum of the Belgian Royal Institute of Natural Sciences offers a fascinating insight into the history of nature, from the prehistoric times to the present day. The highlight of the museum's holdings is the Bernissart Iguanodon collection: these dinosaur skeletons, now painstakingly restored and conserved, were found in the 19th century in the small village of Bernissart in the South of Belgium. Other sections of the permanent exhibition include a collection of relics dating from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods; Of Humans and Mammoths (development and environment of the human race during the Ice Age); Insect World; Whales; Mammals and Mineralogy.
