The White Hotel, Brussels

Author: Anothertravelguide.com

Upon crossing the threshold of the White Hotel, you will feel as though you have entered an art gallery, for this establishment serves as both a hotel and Belgian designer showroom. From the reception hall to the restaurant and guest rooms, you will come across all kinds of exclusive items created by 70 Belgian designers of both local and international renown, some of whom have designed iconic objects for such well-known brands as Vitra, Driade and De Padova. Every guest room is adorned by at least one exclusive object or installation that has been created for that specific room.

The rooms are spacious, and the contour of the milk-white curtains by the windows makes one feel pleasantly isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city outside. Admittedly, this hotel is probably not suitable for those who place priority on comfort in its traditional sense, for at the White Hotel, design takes preference above all else. As in a real art gallery that sees a lot of visitors and changes its exhibit pieces, the white paint on the guest room walls is worn a bit thin in some places. However, that is a minor detail that most clients will choose to overlook, for the white walls serve merely as a background to showcase Belgian works of art and design. Furthermore, the White Hotel is a great meeting place for fans of design objects from all across the world.
