Mulhouse's Cité de l'Automobile is one of the world's largest and most prestigious automobile museums. Its core is the unique automobile collection of the Schlumpf Brothers, which contains 437 special and rare automobiles from 97 different makers. Pearls of the collection include 124 Bugatti automobiles (Alsace, by the way, is the geographic birthplace of this prestigious model), amongst which are two Bugatti Royales, as well as Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, Maserati and other makes. The museum is housed in an old 19th century wool factory; it underwent large-scale renovations in 2006 and now, alongside its unique collection, it boasts state-of-the-art technological equipment.
