David Bowie Is, La Villette, March 3 – May 31, 2015
This David Bowie retrospective is one of the events marking the opening of the new Philharmonie de Paris. A traveling exhibition that began its European tour in 2013 in London, it contains more than 300 of Bowie's costumes and objects, such as films, photographs, his personal guitars, models of concert-tour stage sets, and so on. Also included are pieces from the extravagant wardrobe of Bowie's futuristic alter ego, Ziggy Stardust. As Ziggy, Bowie usually strutted the stage in either a skin-tight Martian leotard or a shamefully short robe, always accessorized with platform boots, bright red hair and provocative makeup. As Bowie has said himself – Sigmund Freud “would have a heyday with me”.
