Velázquez, Grand Palais, March 25 – July 13, 2015

This exhibition of the works of Spanish grand master Diego Velázquez (1599-1660) at the Grand Palais is one of the most grandiose showings of the artist to have ever been organized in France. As the official court artist for King Philip IV, Velázquez had the unique ability to depict historical and mythological scenes simply and naturally. Art historians tend to agree that along with the death of  Velázquez, the Spanish school of art began to wane. The exhibition at the Grand Palais has been organized in cooperation with the Musée du Louvre and the Vienna Kunsthistorisches Museum.
