In one of the most anticipated European theatre events of the year, the great French actress Isabelle Huppert meets Krzysztof Warlikowski, one of the most powerful directors of the new Polish theatre in a production based on one of the intense masterpieces of the 20th-century drama, Tennessee Williams's Streetcar Named Desire. Isabelle Huppert does not accept invitations to appear on stage easily; like her cinema roles, theatre parts only interest her if they hold a promise of a new challenge, a new road to the unknown. Krzysztof Warlikowski started his studies of the stage directing while he was reading philosophy at the university - first by watching opera and ballet productions (he was not particularly excited by the trends in the Polish theatre of the time), later - by studying with some of the world's greatest theatre directors, the likes of Peter Brook, Krystian Lupa, Giorgio Strehler and Ingmar Bergman, working as an assistant to some of them for a number of years. Today, Krzysztof Warlikowski is one of Europe's most influential directors in his own right.
