The Museum of Fashion and Textile is located in the Pavillon de Marsan of the Louvre, the wing housing the Museum of Decorative Arts. The impressive collection consists of more than 16 000 clothing items - from XVI century to the present day, including designs by Coco Chanel, Paul Poiret and Jean-Paul Gaultier, - 35 000 accessories etc. 90% of the collection is formed by donations from the designers, collectors and producers. The Museum is also well-known as an organiser of high-profile fashion exhibitions. The latest, dedicated to past and present of the Balenciaga fashion house impressed with a record large number of visitors.
