Musée du quai Branly, Paris

Author: Anothertravelguide.com

This museum is the pet project of Jacques Chirac, the ex-President of France, the result of the politicians attempt to kill at least three birds with a single stone: acknowledge his personal passion for Asian and African art, make a polite politic gesture in the general direction of the developing countries and leaving his mark on the stage of Parisian cultural life. The architect of the building is Jean Nouvel. The façade and interior of the museum dedicated to art and culture of the ancient African, Oceanian, Asian and American civilisations match the specific character of the exhibition: the museum looks like a building hidden among trees, and thus visitors are prepared for entering another world.
