Diane Arbus, Martin – Gropius-Bau Museum, Until September 23, Berlin

Author: Anothertravelguide.com

On display in Berlin throughout the summer, this extensive retrospective of works by famous American photographer Diane Arbus provides a unique opportunity to witness an extensive cross section of New York City in the 1950s and 1960s - from the glamour of its affluent elite to the squalor of its poor and homeless. Arbus was born in New York in 1923, often using the city of her birth in the creation of her works - harshly peeling the Big Apple layer by layer to its very core through portraits of various people, including children, eccentrics, nudists and celebrities. The exhibition of more than 200 photographs will showcase a number of her best-known works, as well as pictures that have not been shown to the public before.
