Hanna Shygulla, Traumprotokolle (Dream Protocols), Akademie der Künste (Academy of Arts), Until March 30

Actress Hanna Shygulla is a legend. For more than a decade, she was one of the main heroines in a number of films by New German Cinema director Rainer Werner Fassbinder, including The Bitter Tears of Perta von Kant, Katzelmacher, The Merchant of Four Seasons, The Marriage of Maria Braun and Lili Marleen. Shygulla portrayed anguished individuals experiencing complicated human relationships in films that Fassbinder claimed were centred on love.

Shortly before the death of the movie director in 1982 at the age of 37, Shygulla moved to Paris, where she established a new career as a chanson singer, performing in the French capital and in many other European cities. She has also created a number of her own short films, which can now be seen at the Academy of Arts in Berlin.
