The best Sunday brunch in Berlin! First of all, its location - Potsdamer Platz, Ritz - Carlton hotel. Brasserie Desbrosses is one of the brightest gems there - an authentic French bistro in the very heart of Berlin. The original location of this building, erected in 1875, had been a quiet French village Macon. Then piece by piece it was transported to Berlin and assembled with a scrupulous precision. Every detail there is authentic - chairs, art deco lamps and mirrors. The bistro and Ritz-Carlton hotel were opened at the same time, January, 2004.
Although, Brasserie Desbrosses is opened every day, the real adventure is a Sunday Champagne Brunch, served on Sundays from 12.00 noon to 3.00 p.m.
The first thing you would see there is an old bicycle with a big basket full of freshly baked croissants. And then - in a blink of an eye - you are offered champagne. Mercier. Moreover, without any limitation! Your glass is constantly refilled. If you go for more food and leave an empty glass, hundred percent sure, when you return you would find a full glass again... Accordionist, with a read scarf around his neck, plays background music - French songs only. They strike the heart's deepest strings immediately, at the same being simple and unpretentious.
Just do not get confused and lost in aromas all around. First of all - taste the sea food. Outstanding oysters, roe, trout and salmon! It might be a good idea to start with lobsters - perfectly prepared, tender and not overdone. Then go to salad - to refresh your taste - and finish with a dessert. Cakes are simply divine - piled up in four or five layers, like some delicious gastronomic installations. (Soups and main dishes are very appetizing, too, however, be careful not to overrate your capacity, so to say!)
And what a kingly service! Each guest is attended by two or even three waiters. Dishes are removed as swiftly as glasses are refilled. When a bill is already paid and you are about to leave, a waiter would come up once again, cast a significant glance...and fill your glass once again. Looking at a watch makes no difference at all - you would not leave this place before 3 p.m. anyway! But what a start for a day!
