A colorful store of intelligent magazines Do you read me?, located on Augustrasse - a street that houses numerous Berlin art galleries, has recently opened a bookshop-reading room-exhibition space on the trendy Potsdamer strasse, right opposite to the courtyard where you can find numerous currently popular art galleries and Andreas Murkudis concept store, too. Unlike Augustrasse store, devoted solely to magazines, basis of Do you read me? new address is books. Its covers fields of fashion, art, architecture, design and photography, all editions being selected with a great care and bibliophile's knowledge. It's a genuine feinshmeker's oasis, impossible to be left empty-handed.
The entire of its space is divided into two areas - a bookstore and a reading room with a large table, occasionally turned into an exhibition room. Its interior décor is designed in cooperation with a Finnish furniture manufacturer Artek, and one of its special features is self-assembly chairs, first created in 1974 by Italian designer Enzo Mari and currently produced by Artek. Reading room is a perfect place to try out these chairs that according to the reading room's owner might seem a bit difficult to assemble when doing it for the first time. Yet with sufficient practice, a chair, consisting only of pre-cut pinewood boards and nails, can be assembled in 20 minutes, and the only tool one needs for this purpose is a hammer. Until May 26, Reading room presents an exhibition ARCHIZINES, devoted to the most diverse alternative architectural publishing from around the world.
One of the walls at Do you read me? is devoted to a spontaneous and exciting project entitled "What do you read?". In its framework, well-known personalities from fashion, design, art and culture fields were asked to reveal their individual selection of books, both for professional purpose and leisure moments. All this wide and colorful kaleidoscope of editions, containing art books, exhibition catalogues, novels, cook-books, magazines and many more (lists of books offered by 26 different personalities contain over 300 titles) are available all in one place now, forming a chaotic, colorful and truly inspirational library, where you can immerse yourself and strike some truly unique gems, never to be found anyplace else.
