FRANKFURT KUNSTVEREIN MUSEUM, Frankfurt

Author: Anothertravelguide.com

The Frankfurt Kunstverein museum of art was founded in 1829 by a group of influential citizens for the purposes of supporting art and making it available to the residents of the city. Today, the museum is housed in the 15th-century Steinernes Haus located a stone's throw from the City Hall. The Kunstverein art association currently comprises almost 2000 members; their financial support makes it possible for regular and internationally recognised shows of contemporary art to be hosted featuring works of art created specifically for the needs of these exhibitions. Alongside the shows, various other culture and art-related events are held here, effectively making Kunstverein the centre of artistic life in Frankfurt. Café im Kunstverein, the museum cafe, is particularly popular in the local art circles; the contemporary interior was designed to promote active discussions on art.
