SCHIRN ART GALLERY, Frankfurt

Author: Anothertravelguide.com

The 1986-opened Schirn Art Gallery has currently grown into one of the most famous European exhibition venues, presenting explosive art themes expressed in a concentrated language and from a contemporary angle. Since the opening day, the gallery has hosted over 180 exhibitions, the most extensive of which were dedicated to the Viennese Art Nouveau, Expressionism, Dadaism and Surrealism, the history of photography, the art of the Stalin era, the Nazarene painting, the New Romanticism in contemporary art as well as subject matters like Shopping: Century of Art and Consumer Culture. Outstanding retrospectives of Vassily Kandinsky, Marc Chagall, Alberto Giacometti, Frida Kahlo, Bill Viola, Yves Klein, Arnold Schönberg and other great masters.
