Austernkeller is perhaps the best seafood restaurant in Munich. That might be hard to believe at first, judging by its unobtrusive sign and ordinary, basement-level entry. However, this is the case where the saying: "don't judge a book by its cover" applies. Austernkeller has served as a tried and true gourmet eating establishment for 30 years, and plans on continuing to delight its patrons' palates for some time yet. There is no other place in Munich where you will find such a splendid variety of oysters and other seafood.

The interior, with its historical basement archways, is nice, although to some it might seem a bit kitschy. However, the main emphasis in Austernkeller is on the food, which is excellent!
