The concept of leisurely pleasure-taking can't get any closer to perfection than the area between Germany, Switzerland and France, where just a few dozen kilometers separate the gourmand paradise of Elsace from Germany's Black Forest region of Schwarzwald. Here, the combination of a little hotel with a gourmet restaurant is as carefully tended as the flower arrangements decorating the windowsills of the houses. Adler is a great place to spend the night if you want to explore Basel's museums, but due to the high value of the Swiss Frank at the moment, it would be more prudent to find lodgings in Germany. In addition, Weil am Rhein contains a spot highly popular with tourists interested in design and architecture - Vitra Campus. The Adler restaurant and hotel are housed in a historic building dating back to 1548. The restaurant is a true haven for gourmands (see the section, Where to Eat), while the rooms are not too big, simple and laconic - just perfect for relaxing in after a good meal and a day spent soaking in the cultural sights. Adler also features a private parking lot and wireless internet for guests.
