Housed in a beautiful art nouveau building, Ernst Museum is one of the most significant Hungarian 20th century visual art exhibition halls of the present day. It was established in 1912 by art collector Lajos Ernst, seeking to make his valuable private collection of visual and applied arts available to wider public. The exposition was later supplemented by two more halls, currently housing Műcsarnok exhibition space.
