Just like Rézkakas, the restaurant set next door to the Budapest National Museum serves classical Hungarian cuisine; as far the atmosphere is concerned, though, it is so much pleasanter: not even half as formal and expensive. The place is reminiscent of a 1950s tavern complete with the decor featuring a wall painting by the famous Hungarian artist Lotz Károly and waiters in white suites and bow-ties. Alongside the traditional Hungarian goulash soup and excellent asparagus, the over 120-year old Múzeum Restaurant also serves Mediterranean seafood temptingly displayed right there on the counter. After 7 pm, the dining hall is filled with the sound of piano.
