Supported by the self-government of the city, the gallery focuses on contemporary Hungarian and foreign art. Its regularly changing exhibitions include architecture, photo art and applied arts with participation of Hungarian and foreign artists. The gallery supports both young artists by organizing their first large-scale personal exhibitions and the undeservedly forgotten ones during the previous decades or the ones who were not able to show their art at all. Another exhibition space under the Budapest Gallery is the Exhibition Hall housed in an 18th century building at 158 Lajos Street. It features both a permanent exposition and regularly changing contemporary art exhibitions.
