Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy

Author: Ivars Ciaguns

Cortina d'Ampezzo, host of the Winter Olympics 1956, is located just a couple of hours ride from Innsbruck. A typical Italian resort, offering winter joys with Italian flair and temperament. Cortina d'Ampezzo certainly is a high style ski destination. While four-star hotels may not provide outstanding service, the mountain slopes are of large variety and impeccably quality. The same way as Kitzbühel in Austria, Cortina d'Ampezzo is a traditional Italian resort with a historic touch. Being located in Dolomite Region, dolomite is its greatest treasure. With the sun casting its rays on the dramatic mountain summits, the sight is truly magnificent! Even more impressive then the Alps! At the same time the small Veneto district town exudes tranquility, while ladies in fluffy coats walk their doggies along its central streets.
