Having recently opened its doors in Milan, Garage Milano can hardly be called just a design gallery as it seems to be much more. It's a space for experiments and a source of inspiration. The project's idea belongs to a designer and a collector of vintage items Alba Maria Pattori, while co-curated by an art theoretic Paola Gaggiotti and an event organizer Nelsy Leidi. The gallery serves both as an exhibition venue and an event platform, being in a ceaseless movement and functioning like a creative organism. The gallery-shop features the 21st century design, contemporary art and valuable historic items, which can be viewed as design icons, therefore creating a constant and unusual interchange between things and sensations. It's a space that oozes a sense of never-ending continuation where the past and the current moment are of equal importance there.
The Gallery is located in a 1950s ex-industrial space, and its 1500 m² space has actually housed as a garage at that time. While now refurbished, it still preserves features of its previous life, emphasizing a sense of continuation.
