Overlooking the magnificient skyline and terraces of the city, Armani lounge bar is located in the Armani Hotel Milano, which opened at the end of 2011. Giorgio Armani, the master who has lost not a drop of ambition or energy in his advancing years, said that he wanted to be remembered not only for his clothing and felt that he needed to introduce another element of luxury to Milan, adding to the city's fame. Armani is responsible for the costumes in The Dark Knight Rises, the last instalment of the Batman films. In via Manzoni, the Armani hotel is under the wing of the designer's mega-temple - it's his testimony to his love for his city. Though Armani was not born here, it was Milan that became the springboard for his 1.2-billion dollar fashion mammoth. Ironically, the hotel opened his doors just before Silvio Berlusconi resigned - at a time when asceticism, not luxury, would befit an Italy suffocating under debt. Avoiding ostentation, guests paying for the rooms that start at 500 euro a night are shepherded upstairs by "lifestyle managers," reception hidden away from prying eyes. There are 95 rooms and apartments, all done in Armani's inimitable style down to the details, like the doorknobs and clothes hangers. Even the lift has style - the lighting erases the wrinkles of age and lends everyone a healthy, light tan. The bar is a cocoon of luxury that's pur Armani - warm, laconic minimalism and an infinite vastness blend into the cityscape beyond, making Milan seem like something to be unwrapped like a fine fashion item.
