A genuine Venetian restaurant located in the district of San Polo, on a tiny street you will spend ages looking for, presumably muttering under your nose something to the effect of you being more likely to break your neck than find anything in this blasted city... but in this case, at least, it will definitely turn out to be worth it - although you are sure to get lost at least once on your way there and if you will meet a single soul in the maze of the remote tiny street, it is very likely to be someone going to the same place. There are two options: having your evening meal in a classical dining hall or on a terrace. On a warm summer night the latter will certainly prove more delightful. The restaurant has two rooms and, as to the number of tables, is slightly larger than the already mentioned Alle Testiere. It feels a bit like a largish family dining room where you are being served by waiters instead of the host. The cuisine is classical - as are the guests: returning visitors and authentic Venetians (if you still believe in the existence thereof). Trust the waiter's advice. Servings are not small, you can safely order the antipasti mista (it is excellent). Baby scallops with razor clams are sure to be the best you have sampled for a long, long time. Do plump for sgroppino instead of a dessert: it is the classical Venetian cocktail, and the recipe goes something like that: a glass of ice cold prosecco, 2 tablespoons worth of vodka, some lemon sorbet - and the whole thing is then mixed together in a blender. The result is mouth-wateringly-to-die-for, and a second helping won't solve the problem either...
