This is one of the few truly contemporary restaurants in Venice; what makes the place so special is undeniably the canal-side terrace with a view of the island of Giudecca: ideal for sunny days. The restaurant is housed in a converted salt warehouse. The eye-catching, vibrantly-coloured and, at the same time, understated decor wouldn't look out of place in, say, Amsterdam. The experimental cuisine (which nevertheless is based on the classical Venetian culinary traditions) may appeal to you - or not. Let's take, for instance, prawns with fresh apples and pickled onions - a rich yet, at the same time, quite extraordinary bouquet of flavours. Or polenta with mussels. However, if you are not experimentally inclined, you will find plenty of safe, traditional and well-tested options.
