An excellent little place - a comparatively small Venetian family restaurant next door to the church of San Felice. Simple décor, good food and intimate atmosphere - one of the best finds in this city. Do try and book a table in advance (particularly during the Venice Art Biennial and the Venice Film Festival): this is the sort of places people learn of from word of mouth. The rest is a gamble: you may find yourself sitting next to a famous filmmaker with his crew, fresh from another film presentation, and this may evolve into one of the most spectacular behind-the-scenes episodes you will ever witness in the city. But then again, your neighbours may turn out to be a noisy couple from across the Atlantic, and in this case all the intimacy of a meal at Vini de Gigio will be hopelessly ruined. Don't let the name of the place misguide you: this is definitely not a wine bar. Still, the choice of wines is quite good. $$
