Dirty Deal Cafe (DDC) was one of the first inhabitants of Spīķeri (warehouses), the new neighbourhood of the creative industries, opening its door as early as in August 2008. After the move from its former home in Andrejsala, the activities of DDC have taken on a new scope. The erstwhile underground style of the place - involving tumbledown premises with a latrine-style toilet - has become somewhat tamer and more civilised, promising a opportunity to view the establishment of "alternative recreation and entertainment" in a different light, as a quality hangout. However, the popular haunt of the underground crowd has lost none of its original charm: the walls of the main room are painted black; plywood boards in the courtyard feature bountiful graffiti; strings of colourful fairy-lights; tattered wooden benches; tables that must have been acquired for the princely sum of LVL 2 a piece; leather sofas found God-knows-where; a bed of pansies in a corner of the courtyard.
After moving to its new home, the centre of contemporary culture has added a new project - Dirty Deal Kino (Dirty Deal Cinema) - to its existing programme of concerts, festivals and avant-garde theatre events, entailing plans of regular film screenings. At the same time, DDC is carrying on the routine of various activities established in the Andrejsala days of its existence, including the independent Dirty Deal Teatro which proved a success at the Dirty Drama First International Festival of Performing Arts. It is exactly to accommodate theatre performances that DDC has set up a separate auditorium with a stage and a curtain in the second floor of the warehouse conversion - a small one, admittedly, seating as few as 50.
And then, of course, there is music without which the existence of DDC would be unthinkable. Alongside releasing digital records under the wing of Dirty Deal Audio, the young and talented Latvian performers of melodious electronic music, IDM, down/up-tempo, experimental hip hop, electronica and similar musical styles also have a shot at appearing in flesh, either at live gigs or behind the dj turntable. It is not unheard of for DDC to venture outside the usual genre limits: its festival of reggae and ska is just an example. Guest artists - including, for instance, the Parisian performer of electronic music and dj SPA - from abroad appear at DDC on a regular basis.
Dorkbot Riga is one of the latest DDC projects, dealing with the new media/electronic/interactive art and the DIY culture and entailing regular talks, creative workshops and other events.

From 2011. January "Dirty Deal" rooms will be closed for some time. Independent Theatre "Dirty Deal Teatro", "Dirty Deal Cinema Club" and a music venue in "Dirty Deal Cafe" are "freezing" their activities for a period.
