The Foldlife brand evolved from a project known as Ieloci un piemeties! (roughly translated as Fold-and-Sit-Down) which, originated in Latvian architectural circles and launched six years ago, introduced the innovative phenomenon that is foldable cardboard furniture. Since cardboard furniture is still a new product, this time has been all about introductions and explanations. Manufacturing cardboard furniture is a green and environmentally friendly business; the product is intended to get recycled eventually. Corrugated cardboard is a designable and functional material, and Foldlife offers furniture suited both for indoor and outdoor use - stools, chairs, tables, wardrobes, shelves and lampshades.

Cardboard design makes it possible to produce printed furniture; the pieces can be custom-printed, they can be used to add colour to the daily life of any household, paying special attention to setting up a truly creative environment for children. Imagine a foldable table featuring a popular board game at each corner -draughts, Ludo or Snakes and Ladders... Or a nursery stool with printed contours which would encourage the kids to reach for their paint-boxes and get inventive with colours. The people behind Foldlife have also given some thought to creative games: ships, cars and houses can be built from their construction games - cardboard legos or meccanos, if you will.

In 2006, Foldlife designed the stand of Latvian architects at the International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale; at the 2008 Gothenburg Book Fair, it took two nights for the Foldlife designers to construct a 11-metre tall, 20-metre long and 10-metre wide 'Castle of Light' - a corrugated cardboard scale model of the forthcoming new building of Latvian National Library.
