Faithful to its philosophy of affordable luxury, CitizenM has opened its second hotel in Amsterdam. The new hotel of the super-innovative brand is sited in Amsterdam business centre just minutes away from the most well-known cultural attractions of the city (the first is at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport). Guests can enjoy a whole set of urban tourism comforts in an ultra-compact form for average nightly rates of 69 to 149 Euro. It embraces everything - art (Andy Warhol's portrait of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands displayed in the lobby), fine design (Vitra furnishings, George Nelson's legendary marshmallow sofa, Eames bar stools, etc.) and hi-tech solutions, programmable to one's own liking with just a single device - Philips touch-screen MoodPad, and in addition to all that - a socially responsible attitude. Check yourself in entirely on your own using touch-screen terminals in the lobby, at the same time adjusting the room to your individual preferences, including lighting, music and even temperature. No paperwork whatsoever - just a small slip with a room number on it.
The hotel consists of 5 floors and 215 rooms. Each room comes completely prefabricated and is fit into the hotel building like Lego piece. Everything is built in there - from flat screen TV to toilet-paper holder in the bathroom. Such an original approach is considered to lessen the impact of the building process on the environment and decrease expenses. The hotel is designed by Dutch company Concrete, and has a special „children's corner" as well, fit out with colorful Panton chairs and Eames plywood elephants.
