Mark Lanegan

Mark Lanegan is one of the central figures on the American musical scene of the last twenty years. He has part of a number of influential bands, from the Screaming Trees grunge team to the rock band Queens of the Stone Age. Lanegan has successfully experimented with country blues and folk as well as done some solo singing-songwriting. His music is steeped in darkness, manliness and depressive moods; his voice is a value that transcends time and fashion, just like the legendary vocals of Johnny Cash and Tom Waits. The two brilliant albums co-recorded with Isobel Campbell (formerly of Belle & Sebastian) are masterpieces that count among the highest achievements of Lanegan's musical career to date: their sad and magnetic broken-hearted ballads that touch the deepest recesses of the soul are rated among the classics of contemporary music. In April and May Lanegan is touring Europe with an acoustic show featuring a selection of his solo songs.
