Polish Jurassic Highland, Poland

Author: Juris Zīģelis

The pride of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland is the Polish Jurassic Highland, also known as the Polish Jura. While many would say that they associate Poland first of all with highways, countless billboards that flash by and endless road construction works, this is the place to go to experience Poland's astonishing and unique natural landscape.

The Jurassic rocks and cliffs are surrounded by forests - a fact that makes it possible to combine rock-climbing with a number of other recreational activities, like exploring the endless hiking trails or going on a cycling tour.
Although the area is very popular among rock-climbers from Poland and the neighbouring countries, the Jurassic limestone rocks still abound with enjoyable and as yet not over-explored routes measuring up to 35 (in places up to 40) metres in height. The rocks are novice-friendly.
In the vicinity of the rock area you will find both a cosy camp site and a hotel for those who appreciate their comfort.
