As soon as you step into Bairro Alto, you are enveloped by an incredible ambience of calm: the hustle and bustle of the outside world is forgotten and you find yourself in a peaceful oasis - in the very heart of Lisbon. Bairro Alto Hotel is the latest of boutique hotels in the city. 55 rooms in a 18th century building with a view on the Camões Square and the river Tagus. The décor makes a successful attempt to combine history and tradition with modern day luxury. Bedroom walls are adorned with hand-painted wood panels; the rooms contain everything a 21st century person might need to feel like home and stay in touch with the outside world: a DVD player, internet connection etc. A lovely roof terrace bar with a view on the red rooftops and a sunset over the Tagus.
